If you want to connect a TNC to the PC over an interface which is not a lot faster than the channel bit rate, this extension doesn't buy you much, when you want to do the channel access in the PC. The latency from the PC wanting to send a frame until the frame starts to get transmitted is still huge, as the whole packet must first be completely transmitted to the TNC before it starts to transmit it on the air. 6PACK allows the TNC to start a frame transmission before it completely arrived at the PC. Also, the PC still doesn't know the channel state. Tom
