I can pretty much guarantee that quantity of page space just isn't available
in QST. Nor is QST a particularly good medium for material that is intended
for a worldwide audience.

Maybe. You would need to discuss it with the Handbook editor. Note that the
2000 Handbook is being worked on now -- it's content has already been
determined. Any significant additions to the Handbook would not appear until
the 2001 book, in October 2000.

We also issue an annual QST/QEX/NCJ CD-ROM. We could conceivably include
some annual Linux content on that if there is room.

But I still think a separate book is the better, more flexible option.

If a rough frequency of revision can be determined up-front, the costs can
be built in. It's not that expensive to make revisions per se. What's
expensive is throwing away inventory because you bought too much. Buying a
small quantity of each press run keeps that from happening but raises the
needed cover price. Take your choice.
