Does mtrack need gtk+ 1.2? Debian 2.1 doesn't have it. It compiles fine
on my Debian-unstable (2.2) system, which has gtk+ 1.2 and glib 1.2.
I don't think it's unreasonable for mtrack to need the latest released
version of gtk+ -- 1.2 is a proper release and not a development version.
