Well if you are going to transmit anything sensitive (I.E. you dont want
everyone to read it) or is for business use then amateur radio is out.  I
would reccomend spread spectrum. California microwave has some nice 900mhz
units that transmit about 10 miles are fairly in-expensive and dont require
ax25 or other special setups. they act as if it was a direct serial
connection (with a bit of lag)
About $400.00 per unit less power supply,antennas, cables, technician.
