  I see that some people are compiling the new tool/apps/library on libc5
systems and I wish them well.

However the source tgz files will only be setup to be compilied on glibc
2.1 (libc 6) based systems.  There is enough difficulty with just that
one version of library.

Does that mean that if you are running libc 5 or glibc 2.0 that you cannot
use the new packages? Of course not, but don't expect me to accept some
non-portable patch against them just so it works with your libraries.
The short answer is, if you run those libraries, you're own your own
(though you can probably get help from others on this channel).
