You must be kidding Arno. This is the *Linux* place and the plight
of FBB users that are STILL using DOS is not in the least bit interesting
to the usual list reader. 

        In answer to your question, FBB is written so that certain maximum
lenghts of words are the longest it will use. Since FBB was written back
in 1993 you can assume the max length of a filename will be 8 characters.


        If you like long file names I suggest you get Linux. It's free and
is almost pure Unix, long filenames and MUCH more.
