For those that don't know, you CAN do this over telnet even though ^]
is the telnet escape character as well:

$ call ax0 dz0zzz
^]
telnet> send esc
(sends ^] to the application)

Though re-mapping the telnet escape character might be a more convenient
option if you need this often.
