Umm... Are you trying to compile ax25-utils-2.1.42a? Forget that. Remove
everything that was installed by that in the past. Then get the latest
ax25-lib/tools/apps from ftp.hes.iki.fi, configure and install them as
described in the INSTALL file that comes with each package. (I recommend
using the "--prefix=/usr ..." stuff when configuring.)

That's the problem. The "-v" option causes kissattach to display the
version number and _exit_immediately_. So your kissattach line doesn't do
anything. Remove the "-v" and try again.

BTW. Judging from the kissattach version number you obviously have already
installed ax25-lib/tools/apps. Why are you trying to compile ax25-utils?
