Tom,

I found the problem with hfkernel_kernel and hfkernel_user hanging.
The Makefile statically links /usr/lib/libpthread.a in; if I
change it to dynamically link in libpthread.so, it works fine!

I will send a query to our libc6 maintainer so find out if this is a bug.
It seems very strange to me -- static versus dynamic linking should not
matter.

Some odd messages from hfkernel:

hfkernel[10726]: hfkernel v0.2 starting...
hfkernel[10726]: FSK Parameters: Space frequency: 1275 Mark frequency: 1475
hfkernel[10730]: mode: standby
hfkernel[10731]: connect from fam 1
hfkernel[10731]: FSK Parameters: Space frequency: 1275 Mark frequency: 1475
hfkernel[10730]: error: select hmmmm?: Interrupted system call
hfkernel[12043]: mode: pactor arq call
hfkernel[12043]: error: select hmmmm?: Interrupted system call
hfkernel[12121]: mode: rtty rx

The interrupted system call messages are strange.
