Well I am not sure, but try to set the ip-address before configuring
the other things or try to do it with the same ifconfig command.
This "Device not configured" sounds similar to the to the other
ip-address related problems. The 2.2 kernel series seem to consider
a device as not configured if it has no ip address. Ok, this sounds
not very reasonable because you say it works with ser12, but give it
a try. No other ideas, perhaps someone has a par96 running and can
give other hints.
