By what you said you didn't have to recompile the kernel, and all you did
was to load the scc modules that are already part of the installation.

Is that correct ?

Did you have to alter any files so that the modules were loaded on boot
(and stayed loaded) ?

Where were sccinit, were they on the system (I don't think they were there
on mine), if not were did you get them from and what package, I found
z8530drv-utils-3.0-3.i386.rpm is that the one to use ?

I am asking these questions as I cannot get to the new disk without
upsetting the network here and would like to change OS's with the smallest
of down-time possible.
