Hi,

Thanks all for reading.

I have problems to connect a Telephone Modem under LinFBB. Version
7.00g26, compiled
from source, or some older versions. I First tried the g26 Version on my
SuSE 6.1, glibc2
Based system I got everything working just fine, exept the Telephone
Modem !
I have tried it with a 2.0 Kernel, and a 2.2 Kernel, because I thought
that
/dev/cua would not work with 2.2

I also tried to change the source to change cua in ttyS, but no succes
there.

I tried it with 2.0.35 and 2.2.13, both ended up with the same result.

When doing so with a 2.2.13 kernel, I get a Kernel message that
/dev/cua2 is obsolete, I
should upgrade software to use /dev/ttyS2. That makes normal sense, but
doesn't seem to be
the root of my problem. When FBB starts, the Recieve Data and Send Data
leds light up, but
the AT Commands in my inittncx.sys ( 6 ) don't get send to the Modem ..
When I use
echo atz >/dev/cua2 without FBB running, the modem gets initialised OK.
Somehow the Modem
doesn't get initialised properly and cannot be accesed by Xfbb.

I get almost the same result If I switch to Slackware 3.6, with a 2.0
kernel.
The only thing that differs is that there are some cua Overrun lines
printed on my screen.
But still no sign off live as far as the Telephone Modem is concerned.

I did everything according to the DOCs found on F6FBB's Site. I tried
different Modems, Internal and External, and checked the cable wiring of
the External
Modems. They were OK.

Normally I can get everything working properly under
Linux, but this puzzles me.

/dev/cua2 (and /dev/ttyS2) in my case have the right permissions
(rw-rw-rw), Modem works
properly with Minicom
or a connection to my ISP. I used the correct parameters in port.sys for
this Modem, again according to the DOCs. The thing thats bugging me,
that when FBB starts, deamon, the modem
shows signs of live, some LEDS go on and off.. but I cannot seem to call
this modem, though inittncx.sys (6 in my case) has ATZ, and ATS0=1
mentioned.

Outgoing doesn't work either.. If I set up a forward on the telephone
Modem port.

Please, can anyone help me ?! I don't think that I am the only one that
wants to use
a Telephone Modem with Xfbb ?

Maybe someone can send me some working configs, although I think I've
got
everything right ?

Many thanks in advance, 73 de PE1PXN
