Use an USCC card. Baycom has one with 4 and one
with 8 ports. Buying a modem for an USCC card is much
cheaper than a TNC not to mention the mass of
cables you would need.
If you're running KISS or 6pack with the TNCs (I think
you'll have to use one of these two) the own microprocessor
for each TNC is anyway not much help.
Running 8 KISS TNCs on one serial port in a loop
is not a good idea I think, because as far as i can imagine
bandwith of the serial port is shared then.
