Seasons greetings to all.

I'm trying to use soundmodem in fsk9600 mode together with IC-821H and
xfbb.

The setup works, I'm able to exchange traffic with neighbouring BBS.
However I have the feeling that the performance isn't what it should be. It
looks slower than a proper 1200bps channel.

I'm running SuSE 6.3, kernel 2.2.13

Problems are:
- When I use sethdlc (version 0.5), I get a line in /var/log/message saying
"sethdlc uses obsolete (PF_INET,SOCK_PACKET)" I don't know what it means,
how to fix it or if it matters...

- I can only monitor received packets (both in xfbb and if I use 'listen').
It would be easier to figure out if problem is on my side of the link if I
could see also transmitted packets, is that possible and if so, how do I
change it?

- When I restart the computer, paralellport activates PTT, is that possible
to avoid?

- I tried first to use serial port for PTT but never got that working.
/var/log/message said "soundmodem: ptt output: none". I tried to use "serio
0x2f8"
When I boot I get:
Serial driver version 4.27 with no serial options enabled
ttyS00 as 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
ttyS01 as 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A

Any suggestions how to get serial PTT working?

- smdiag is missing, think it was removed when I upgraded from SuSE 6.1 ->
6.3. I used it before the upgrade to verify that levels are correct. Does
someone know why it was removed, if it still works with kernel 2.2.13,
where can I download it?
