Providing Ted did not make define a static arp then i would imagen there
would be no arp entry for the destination IP# and HWaddress (g3xxx).

A beter question would be is g3xxx directly rechable on Ted's radio
port,??.

If g3zzz is reachable "directly" on the radio port then the return should
be 100% packet loss, or timeout from telnet.

If g3zzz is reachable "via" a gateway then the chances are the route's are
not set properly, i would imagen the answer to the problem is the later.

Ted, is g3zzz reachable "directly" on your radio port, and what is the
output of;

route -ne

You give g3zzz as an example, now thats all well and good, however give the
exacht IP address to us as that will show what route is valid and which is
not.

A normal stn, would have routes defined to all "reachable hosts" on each
interface, then all hosts which are reachable VIA a gateway would have
for example;

route add -net 44.137.28.0 netmask 255.255.255 gw 44.137.28.27 scc3

The above routes all unknown Dutch 44.137.28 (Zeeland subnet) from my
machine to 44.137.28.27 (pi1goe.ampr.org).

Route all unknown IP# world wide to pi1goe.ampr.org

route add -net 44.0.0.0 netmask 255.0.0.0 gw 44.137.28.27 scc3
