The online help gives fairly good info on the user commands, I have tried to
improve this somewhat by removing references to none-existant commands and
minor clarifications to some of the other text.

I feel that the main thing to do is to use informative 'motd' and 'issue'
files that give users enough info to get started & use the online help. Very
few people seem to realise that there is more to the help system than just
the command list!

As far as the protocol goes, I have no real knowlege of this, and I have no
info on any documentation - though it may well exist in one of the older
releases.
