In the OZ7SAT PacSAt group we have a side project named Acousto which is
exactly this. Here is a translation of the first paragraph of the Danish
description:
"To develop a dedicated data radio which is specially tailored for both
terrestrial data (packet) and satellite usage for speeds up to at least
9600 baud. The project is nicknamed Acousto and has been described in
AMSAT-OZ Journal no. 18 (September 1993)."
