Dear XYLs, YL and OMs,
Like the past years, the conventions' purpose is to enable all participants
to exchange current information about the future development of our
communications
mode and our packet radio network in particular, in lectures, workshops and
presentations.
The event is organized by:
- DARC District of Hessen (Technical-Group)
- Rhein-Main-Packet-Radio Group (RMPRG)
- Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Funkamateure der TH Darmstadt (AFTHD)
The convention will take place on

at the Hans-Busch-Institute of the Technical University of Darmstadt (TUD),
Germany.

Program
-------
_Some_ of the conventions' highlights are:
- Thomas Sailer, HB9JNX is giving lectures about
- his new USB-Modem concept (for Linux?),
- further development of the soundmodem-project and
- a very interesting new variant of generating FSK modulated RF
signals digital using a modified PLL-synthesizer aproach.
- Gunter Jost, DK7WJ will inform about the internal design of
PC/Flexnet32 and Flexnet for Windows NT and 2000
- Jens David, DG1KJD will speak about his new PCI-based highspeed
4-channel SCC-card and the further development of DG2FEF's approach for
a new Linux AX.25-Kernel
- Udo Tillmann, DJ5UO from TEMIC Semiconductors presents a lecture about
bluetooth, the new short distace wireless communication system.
- Hans-Peter Zorn DG4IAD and Jochen Sarrazin, DG6VJ will present new ideas
about the "PR-Program"-area,
- DIDADIT, a new protocol to transmit binary files and
- a new convers protokoll.
You will be able to see both implemented in the latest version of the
linux-based, graphical PR-terminal "LinKt".
- Again Ekki Pflicht, DF4OR will present his beginner lectures
- the AX.25 protocol,
- how does a digipeater work,
- what do I need in order to use PR at home etc.)
Furthermore he will read a paper about his new program "DigiMap".
It's able to create link maps automatically.
- Ulf, DG1FAZ and Gerald, DL9FCK will present their new 32bit-windows based
PR-terminal "Paxon".
As usual the lead-in lecture will be held by a professor in ordinary of the
Darmstadt Technical University.
This year Prof. Dr. Ralf Steinmetz is speaking about the future of internet.
Additionally there will be some workshops this year.
At the moment following are planned:
- Linux workshop
- installation and usage of PR under Linux with a modern AX.25-Kernel
- KDE and LinKt, the Linux/KDE PR terminal.
Please bring your computers along with you.
Our goal is to provide everybody with a usable PR system running under Linux
and basic understanding how the system is working.
The workshop will be led by Hans-Peter DG4IAD, Jochen DG6VJ and Jens DG1KJD.
- Paging workshop (Short-Amateur-Messaging-System [SAMS])
Holger, DB6KH will lead a pocsag workshop and present a new
RMNC plugin-card. We will distribute more information ASAP.
- 9600 Baud fsk workshop
Andreas, DL2FZN will lead a 9600 baud workshop.
He will help you to understand how the system works.
Also he will help you in analyzing the radio you will take along
in order to find out whether it can be used or modified for 9600Bd or not.
We will provide further information ASAP.
On the second floor there will again be a small exhibition with a fast PR
connection. If you want to present something you can use our inhouse LAN
to get access to our local network nodes DB0FLX and DB0DAR.
Fritz, DG1DS will open his link coordination booth.
We are still not yet sure if Siggi, DF5AA & Co will visit us with their great
radio test facilities.
Henning, DF9IC will moderate a discussion about "Telemetry and
ARPS data in the packet radio network".
Time schedules will be nailed down next week.

By car:

When driving on highway A5 or A67 use the exit "DARMSTADT/STADTMITTE",
drive straight into the city, ("Rheinstrasse"). Drive straight into the
CITY TUNNEL. Use the LEFT exit, at the following traffic lights go
LEFT, after this go RIGHT (into "LANDGRAF-GEORG-STR."), still heading
direction ASCHAFFENBURG,DIEBURG (B26). After about 300m you will see
Hans-Busch-Institute on the LEFT side of the street, Merckstr. 2 .
By Bus/Train:

Arriving at DARMSTADT-main-station use Bus "D" (direction "Ostbahnhof").
Leave the bus at bus-stop "TEICHHAUS-STRASSE"; after 20m downtown (back)
you will see HANS-BUSCH-INSTITUTE at the right side of the street.

If you want to stay at Darmstadt from saturday to sunday, there is a
limited quantities of quartiers available at the Universities' sport

Scriptum
--------
The scriptum is availabe at the convention. As every year, unsold scripts
will be given to ADACOM in order to sell them at exhibitions and other
conventions.
Unfortunately there's nobody yet who volunteered to accept orders
and mail them. If there is any change, we will let you know.
