Hello dear Hams,
I have a little question, wich is about sending
mail over the ax25 networks.
My local bbs is offering smtp mail, and i would
like to get attached with it, with my own sendmail-server running on my
packet-station.
I have read multiple documents, faq's etc. but i
am having a problem , wich i cannot solve.
Probably someone could give me some hints or
tips, i would really like to get it to work...
the problem is as follows :
I have an login-acount on my local bbs for the telnet
sessions. My local mail on that host is working all ok.
I have configured my /etc/sendmail according the howto's and
the local mail runs all fine on my host.
BUT, when trying to adress mail to the local bbs, there are
some errors found by the sendmail deamon.
It looks like some host-name resolution, but i have no clue
what is is about. I will include the errors from sendmail -bp
pd1acf:/var/log#asendmail
-bp
Mail Queue (1 request) --Q-ID-- --Size-- -----Q-Time----- ------------Sender/Recipient------------ WAA02937 5 Mon Apr 3 22:05 root (host map: lookup (pe1mvx.ampr.org): deferred) [EMAIL PROTECTED] pd1acf:/var/log# This looks like my system does not know anything
about my local bbs (pe1mvx), although ping's telnet's etc are working via the
hostname.
Also here are some errors from /var/log/messages
pd1acf:/var/log# cat messages
Apr 4 11:30:52 pd1acf sendmail[3671]: LAA03671: from=root, size=45, class=0, pri=30045, nrcpts=1, msgid=<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, relay=root@localhost Apr 4 11:30:52 pd1acf sendmail[3671]: LAA03671: [EMAIL PROTECTED], delay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, stat=queued pd1acf:/var/log# All this is not making real sense to me, and i
am a little stuck with this. I have understood from someone that this could have
to do something with the new
sendmail version, which is
about securety related configurations, although i don't have the feeling this is
my problem.
At the moment i am running a very simple slackware 7.0
installation, with no special things installed. Only scc & ax25 related
software.
I have NO nameserver running, this should not be necesarry on
our packet-radio networks..( at least locally)
I also have read that there is an option for the
sendmail to compile with an option without DNS, but my neighbour ham with the
same release (slackware7.0)
says he did'nt do that at
all.. He just used the standard included sendmail.cf
Maybe someone starts laughin' and sees my problem here, please
give me some hints, i'd really appreciate it.
