This works in my KPC-3...
actually.... the command  to disable kiss is

kissparms -p <port> -x   (dont forget the port as defined in AXPORTS)

use "minicom" program (on a non-kiss tnc) to enable with the standard TNC
command set, INT KISS or whatever MFJ uses. On my KPC-3 I had to do  RESET
after changing the Interface type.
