Hi, Richard:

Let me redefine my use of the word 'intuitive';
perhaps I could use 'overt', 'obvious', 'manifest', 'immediately evident',
(one of my favorites) 'intuitively obvious to the casual observer'.

 I want the CALLSIGN-SSID that is accepting AX.25 circuits to the BBS to be
'made known' to those monitoring my AX.25 transmissions or viewing any 'node list'.

 You are saying that I can configure a port to accept an AX.25 connect
request to a specific CALLSIGN-SSID.

 I am asking, can that specific CALLSIGN-SSID be 'made known' to others
automatically, obviously, overtly? IOW, would I be the only one to know?

 Is the CALLSIGN-SSID that is accepting AX.25 connections to
an application: overt, hidden, unknown to others?

If the answer is not yes, could I substitute the word ALIAS for CALLSIGN
and then could the answer be yes?

OBTW, I don't know what 'ax25d' does or what a 'dummy interface via node' is.

Is 'ax25d' a 'node' application for linux in the same manner that
 'BPQ' is a 'node' application for DOS ?

Regards, Chuck nc8q
