This could be OK. From my point of view you could need this information
in two different situations :
1 - doing regular QSO
2 - doing contest QSO
If (1) then you can have separate field in the log record that can
be filled later when QSL card arrives (otherwise you can't use this
QSO for any award).
If (2) program will supply default value but you should have chance to
override it (after receiving it from your correspondent).
