information request

I am relatively new to Linux.  Can someone point me to some good (and
current) information on Linux and packet radio(KISS)?  In particular, what
components I need to get started.  I have the RH 6.2 and I downloaded kernel
2.2.14 and recompiled with the AX25 and KISS options included.  What next?
I have a KPC-3 that I plan on using.
