baycom interface error

Hi,

does anybody out there know the following problem:

trying to start an ax25 interface (bcp0) for the parallel Port PICPAR
Modem at SUSE 6.4 with kernel 2.2.14 and 2.2.16 i got the message
"SIOCSIFFLAGS: Device not configured" when I try to set the interface to
"up"
Modules are loaded fine, entries in axparms are done, IP addres is set...
With SUSE 6.1 and Kernel 2.2.7 it worked fine , there were no probs.
