The HOWTO is out of date yes, obsolite no, the basic rules "do still apply"
Really all that is needed is some "Command syntax" changes, Eg; for
kissattach and other programs which have changed and inclustions about
"glibc" and 2.2.x kernels, + the new utils.

Thats true, however that stays the same for "any operating system" be it
DOS BeOS or what ever.

There i cant agree, the problem is the attitude of "some" new-commers to
linux. Some expect and demand, others realise its "free" "GOOD" but a lot
different than DOS. There is the saying you cant teach an old
dog new tricks, some try to learn and will listen to what is told them,
others will say if you dont help i will return to DOS.
Belive me, i answer questions on the linux newbie list, the above happens
sometimes, more often than not.

If one is willing to learn, then he/she will stick to it and they will
survive, with or without getting moaned at here on this list for posting
"Off topic mail".
If one has only driven a Austin mini all ones life, then simply stepping
into a Rolls Royce and expecting to know its capabilitys and limits in one
minute is impossable, let alone being able to "know" howto drive it OR
knowing what every switch and leaver is for.
The point is, when one pays for a service one expects service, Even Linus
Torvalds is reported to have said, "if you dont like it NO ONE is going to
make you use it."
