Thats not something I even considered, but the route is back along
exactly the same physical path/frequency, at least from the AX25-TCP/IP
gateway node to me.

Now from the gateway node there is almost certainly at least one other
TCP/IP route to the same Cluster, because I know it can often be
accessed under at least one other name Whether these names represent
different physical routes or if they are merely local aliases at the
gateway I do not know, but I suspect that there is in fact more than
one physical route possible. The fact that Cluster login and subsequent
messages reach me may suggest that only one route is involved at any
one time. Connect always works; its as if the Cluster and/or the TCP/IP
gateway assume I'm still there and keep sending announcements, even if
they get nothing further from my box.

Incidentally, I cannot hear the Linux Cluster node direct on any
frequency and I do not think any of the intermediate TCP/IP nodes is
audible here either.

But using exactly the same node to connect to the nearest AX25
DXCluster (although its often a less reliable link), without going
through the TCP/IP gateway, works as expected.

Not very helpful, sorry.
