The Kernel soundmodem driver support only the original ISA
Soundblaster/Soundblaster 16 Cards and ISA WSS Cards. Both
types are no longer available as far as I know.
But you can use Tom's userland soundmodem which works with
every Soundcard which is supported by the standard sound
driver (works even on solaris and windows):
