Ok, here is my next steps that I have taken. I ran Xconfigurator again and
found a monitor that was just like mine, by cross referencing it to mine. I
have a DELL D825HT, which is a SONY CPD-100SF. The specs matched up when I
checked the SONY web site. One minor discrepancy was that SONY listed the
Horizontal Frequency as 31-70 and the Dell Manual listed it as 31.5-70, but
everything else is the same. So I let Xconfigurator auto-probe my Video
card Matrox Millennium II 4MB, and did not choose a chip set of accelerator.
I only choose the amount of RAM, which Xconfigurator left uncommented in my
XF86Config file, how nice of it :-). It choose my default resolution as
1024x768 at a depth of 32. But this time the screen was lined up fine on
the right hand side of the screen. It left open screen real estate on the
bottom, top and left hand side still. The resolution looked great though.
Well I figured if I post my XF86Config file it may help someone see what my
problem may be. So here is my monitor, device and screen sections: You can
see where I added my own comments.
I also still can't switch between modes with <ctrl>< alt><- or +> using the
num pad. That line is still commented out in the ?Server Flags Section
too... Hope this helps some one see my problem, cause I can't... :-)

Thank you in advance,
Tony

If it dials and connects, you should be good-to-go.

I'd recommend you look into your ppp configuration. Start by using seyon
or minicom to dial into the ISP and watch what happens. Sometimes you
need to supply commands to prompts via chat(8) and other times PAP
authentication via /etc/ppp/pap-secrets is all that's necessary. Read the
man page for pppd(8).

Good luck. I'm quite sure you'll find snappier performance under Linux
than that other thing you mentioned.

It's probally not a good idea to use a RIVA TNT board with a Super 7 mb. I
have heard that RIVA TNT boards need more power than super 7 motherboards
can handle. If your going to get a TNT board, get a motherboard with a BX
chipset

I've recently opened a logo implementation where one of the
files was called "?". I presume it's a easy way of doing a
help system.

I can agree with the control characters. '\' I don't agree
with. It should be there even if you have to use it as "\\".
(As you have to in C for those people who hard-code paths
under DOS).

It should allow \: to represent a colon and \\ to represent
a backslash.

Ok, well, now I've tried it (I got my card yesterday), and I can say, you are
having a problem. Why? perhaps you need to compile out SMP support in the kernel.

It's on by default. I suggest 'make xconfig' under x11, rather than 'make config'

or even 'make menuconfig'. With make xconfig, you can save your setup externally,

and then delete the kernel src tree to save space, and not lose you current
kernel's config. Anyway, hope this helps. SMP support is under 'Proccessor type
and features', and is named Symmetric multi-processing support. If you don't have

two cpus, you don't need it, and it screws with the SBlive driver.

There'd be a limited use for emulating the /dev/3dfx interface so that
other 3D cards could function through it, but the cleaner way is for
non-3DFX cards to write their own Mesa back-ends (since (all?) Linux
3D games run through Mesa).

There is another answer. Go to www.httptech.com/ppa. The guy there has
written a translator that will print postscript files (uses ghostscript to
generate pbm files and then translates the pbm files), but only in black
and white. You can enscript plain text files and thus print them as well.
He apparently hasn't worked on it for a while, but it's at least a partial
solution to the problem.

Or upgrade to 2.2.5, either way. But he's right, that's how you pass the kernel
boot paramaters every time you start up. You can also pass it parameters at the
lilo boot prompt. Just append the param to the end of boot image name. I don't
know what would happen if you passed win98 boot params. Who knows, probobly
something bad.

Having read this, I did some checking, and this is in fact a really nice
series of MBs. Go with whichever one you have a case for. They are so nice, in
fact, I am going to relplace my MB with one of these.
