Kaige,
Do you have a Win Modem, too, like Adam, C. Lin. and myself ( the
new systems are rampant with them due to their lower cost )? If so
is it a HCF Rockwell chip set (KFlex)? How did you get it to work. The
hardware isn't a complete modem. Some of hardware functions have been
replaced with a MSWindows only software packages. If you have a hack
please let me know. :-)
Thanks,
Phil

There is a better patch over here (2.2.11.uniform-ide-6.20.genam.patch):

Pass "idex=ata66" to the kernel ,to enable UDMA/66 on the Promise card,

Be sure your drive also supports UDMA/66 and use the proper 80 wire cable!

Yes is has, just as your AWE 32...., use pin #1 on the addon connector (watch out not
to short #1 & #2, it will ruin your card), it delivers a S/PDIF signal a TLL level,
controlled by the record settings under Windows, under Linux Creative doesn't support
digital out/in yet... (For more details check my webpage:

Check http://www.hoontech.com for the DB SB II, optical +digital in/out + one extra

it works on the SB Live! and SB Live! Value...

Well, any card will work in text mode, so you can set everything up in
text mode, then go into X. Same for framebuffers, basically.
Or you could switch the settings, then switch the cards, but that leaves
less room for error. There is also telnetting into the box if you do end
up in some incompatible video state and need to tweak the settings.

My Maxtor 13gb boots default in UDMA/33, do you have any idea how to
change the HD to UDMA//66?
(not the Promise controller, which is set to UDMA/66 with the idex=ata66
switch).
I think it must be some thing like hdparm -X ##, but I can't seem to

Subject: Is reveal card supported
Date: Sun, 29 Aug 1999 09:38:35 +0300
Hello to you all
I have been trying to recompile my kernel in order to enable sound card
support, I am using Reveal sound blaster pro which claims to be Creative
compliant, however I did have a helluva lot of problems setting it up in
the windows even, untill i used the driver supplied to me by the diskettes.
When i did make menuconfig I got a whole bunch of drivers, but nowhere in
there i have found a hint they support Reveal. So I used the usual SB
compliance and recompiled the kernel, needless to say it didnt work or
I wouldnt have mailed you this mail. That being said I cracked open my sound
howto, and found out that half of the Reveal drivers support one option
into the kernel compilation and half support another option.
Is there ANYONE who can give me a more specific explanation about how
Reveal fits in into linux ( if at all ), maybe someone with a bad of an
experience as myself, which can tell me which options I should mark in the
kernel reconfiguration.
Or a web page which tells me how reveal cards shold be reconfigured for
LINUX.
I am using RH6 + SuSE 6.1 and i would prefer a general solution to both
rather than a unique customizing package for just one.
thanks in advance
naftali

Date: Sun, 29 Aug 1999 08:30:59 GMT
I have an adpatec 1542B controller being used for a Python Dat tape drive.
It works fine under windows at 0x230.
RedHat 6.0 does not see the card. I tried parsing parameters of
aha1542=0x230,11,4,5.
thus no effect.
I changed to Io to 0x334 and it works but I need it to be 0x230 so it will
and can exist under windows as well.
How do I fix this or how step bystep to rebuild modules etc.
I have edited the aha15542.c file to reflect 0x230, 0x234 but I do not
know what to do from this point.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Shouldn't you Maxtor be UDMA(33) ??
I get this reply for my UDMA/66 drive:
hde: Maxtor 91360U4, 12982MB w/2048kB Cache, CHS=26377/16/63, UDMA(33)
Haven't figured it out yet,how to set it to UDMA/66
What a display of HD space, into video editing or something?
