You can't, it's a winmodem. Any DSP modem will work, i'd
recommend a external modem.

Non winmodem. External is the best.

The only data I can find on the IJ700 is that Lexmark made
it and this refrence book is suspious. You could check the
ghostscript web pages.

Date: Mon, 13 Mar 2000 22:47:01 +0100
Hi !
This is very strange. When I installed Redhat 6.1, it detected my Adaptec
2940UW SCSI card. There are two CDROMs and one hard drive on it. Everything
worked fine until yesterday i saw this message : scsi : 0 hosts (and redhat
"checking new hardware" warned me my CDROMs and my hard disk weren't
found...)
Although, under windoz 98 it works fine !
Does anybody know why it is not detected anymore ?
PS : There was a message once, that said that I use the autotermination
function. But it worked fine still...

I have compiled my kernel (2.2.14), which came with Mandrake 7.0, for
generic scsi support and it still does not use generic-scsi by default
for my CD drives. I still have to add the line 'append="hdd=ide-scsi"'
to my lilo.conf file. I did the following :
make menuconfig
make bzImage
make install
I have one CD-ROM drive and one CD-RW drive. I would like to use scsi
emulation for both of them. On start-up they are recognised as ATAPI
devices.
I have checked the cd-rom how-to, but it doesn't seem to apply to
the new kernels.
Any idea as to what I should be doing?

I'm still trying to get SUSE 6.1 installed properly. It doesn't seem to

Does the follwing mean that the Rage Fury is supported under Linux now. It
is an excerpt from the XFree86 4.0.
www.xfree86.org
6. ATI
3.3.6:
Accelerated support is provided for the Mach8 chips (by the XF86_Mach8
server), Mach32 chips (by the XF86_Mach32 server), the following Mach64 and
Rage chips: GX, CX, CT, ET, VT, VT3, GT, RageII+DVD, RagePro (GB, GD, GI,
FP, GQ), VT4, Rage IIC (GV, GW, GZ), Rage LT Pro (LD, LB, LI, LP), Rage LT,
Rage XL or XC (GL, GM, GN, GO, GR, GS) and Rage Mobility (LM, LN, LR, LS)
(by the XF86_Mach64 server). Unaccelerated support is provided for most of
the above (except some early Mach8 and Mach32 adapters), as well the old
VGAWonder series chipsets (18800, 18800-1, 28800-2, 28800-4, 28800-5,
28800-6) by the XF86_SVGA server with the ati driver. Accelerated support is
provided for the Rage 128 chips by the XF86_SVGA server with the r128
driver.
4.0:
Accelerated support is provided for the Rage 128 chips by the "r128" driver.
Unaccelerated support is provided for all of the others except the Mach8 and
some early Mach32 chips by the "ati" driver.
Summary:
All chips supported in 3.3.6 are supported in 4.0 except for Mach8 and some
old Mach32 chips. The support in 4.0 is, however, unaccelerated for all
chips except the Rage 128.

from the irqtune docs, it's not the other serial port that matters.
it's stuff like your hard drive grabbing the interrupt and holding it
for a long time. hard drives haven't sped up as much as cpus and now
their buffers are bigger. i would guess that a hard disk interrupt
could still be a long one. if your hard drive interrupt has higher
priority it would block the serial interrupts. it could be long
enough for a serial port uart buffer to blow out and start losing
data.

I don't understand what happened. S3Trio3D works good with XFree86-3.3.5
and XFree86-3.3.6. Now I installed Mandrake-7.0.2 with XFree86-3.3.6
and can't configure X. Everytime I try to run X monitor turn off. But
"modeline" is good (it works with svgalib, and it's from XFree86 documentation
about Trio3D)! HorizSync and VertSync is good too.. XServer is correct (SVGA).
What can be wrong?
PS. I only configured X with framebuffer, it's slow :-(

Basically yes. The one that has only just been supported is the ATi Rage128,
but the older 3d Rage Pro, Rage LT Pro, Rage IIc etc etc have been supported
by the SVGA, mach32/64 drivers for quite a while.

Interesting workaround -- maybe you should rate this one:

As for Adaptec 2940xx, the recent drivers all seem to work well for most
people, SMP or UP.

Provided you stay away from the *bad* ones (and there are a few), you
should be fine. What you are describing is fairly light use, not something
that would require a $500 multi-processor ECC/RAMBUS powerhouse of a
motherboard. The more expensive versions also often include SCSI onboard,
and you mentioned that you already have a good SCSI adapter.
You may want to visit LhD to read what others have said, but keep in mind
that there shouldn't be any reason to get a really expensive motherboard
for your needs.
