Or how about this..

My Sony Trinitron 17" monitor has an on screen setup. I can move it
left/right/up/down. Tilt it either way and even Shrink or Enlarge the
whole screen. I am thinking the settings on your monitor got changed..
happens to me a few times in windows. I just have to go back and reset
it.

If your monitor has on screen setup too. Try pressing the Reset button
on it to get it back to default settings. Then change it as needed.
Hope this helps.

I have used the HP 710 for some time, and i have no reason to recomend it!
It`s because it has det old ink cartridges, simiular to HP DJ 690c etc, wich
are known to breach after som time. The machine has also not s god specs as
for eksample uhe HP Officejet G series, i belive the model with fax are
caled G95? The 710 has also a wery lose paper input. This i can say after
been a account manager in the largest office product mal.

you might also want to check the virtual resolution in your XFree
config file...

Gary,

it is normal for many systems. Just in gnome they have put process in
background which monitors state of CDROM. So, if you will insert CDROm it will
mount it. Except of that there is another process which flash file table from
memory (which used to speed up acces to HDD - like Norton Cache in DOS). So,
you should not worry about that as it not take computer resources. You can be
intrested to get better performance from your disk in this case read - man
hdparm. If your system a new you can get 4-10 times increase in HDD
performance. In my case performance changed from 3.7Mbs to 13.7Mbs by using
only one command (for IDE disk)

hdparm -c 1 -d 1 -m 8 -k 1 /dev/hda

but one guy reported that his disk was able to get 22Mbs although in very
begining he had about 3.5Mbs.

There is no conflict: today you can buy a board half the size of a
credit card (54x44 mm) with PowerPC CPU, up to 64 MB of RAM, 8 MB of
Flash, serial ports, parallel port, LCD/VGA-Controller, USB, CAN-Bus,
Ethernet, ...

Maybe the TQ modules :-)

Have a look at

and
        http://www.denx.de/2BLT/gfx008.html

[Sorry, the presentation is in German, but the images are "sexy".]

And yes, you can get this system with Linux on it.

No. The closest thing is this group, or comp.periph.printers. I
more or less follow this one; c.p.printers is too sparse unless I
Kiboize, and that's too awkward for me ;)

> I just bought a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 3150

Bummer. This device is reported not to work at all. See
http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_printer.cgi?recnum=266185

HP's Windows driver provides a slightly buggy PCL emulation, so you
could print from Linux through Ghostscript over the network to a
Windows box, but that's rather roundabout.

It is possible, but not likely, that this is in fact an OfficeJet-
heritage device that does actually speak PCL. If so, you would simply
need the userspace MLC protocol driver kit to send PCL to the printer
in the way it expects. You can find that at http://hpoj.bstc.net/

you need a power amp to drive speakers. I don't think a blaster card will
drive conventional speakers.

Dear friends:
Currently, I often burn CD-R under win9x client. I've been told not to touch
the running CD-R. Or I will get a trash CD.
Now, I hope to place it under linux. i will run SCSI-emulation... am I
right?
What I want to know is, should I keep the linux load very light? or maybe
it's ok for me to run squid, mail, news, samba, httpd, mysql, mpg123 on it
while burning the CD.

Thanks.

I've tried changing resolutions. Doesn't work. As for with Win98, even
the bootup screen before 'Starting Win98' was messed up so I knew it
wouldn't work.

Hello All:

Thank you collectively for your replies!!!
At the end of this letter is what my configuration
looks like right now. Have a look please and see if
anything pops out at you. If you need more information
let me know. Sorry for the verbose email and posting,
but I can only help my cause by giving as much info
as I can.

TIA,
Milton

First, a couple of things to note.

(1)
As far as kernel support goes, I did a "make menuconfig"
and under the "Block Devices" menu there is a submenu
that shows this:
         <M> SCSI emulation support
which I guess means that it is supported as a module.
Should I look somewhere else to see if it SCSI emulation
is configured in.

(2)
I implemented EJ's suggestion of editing /etc/lilo.conf,
(see his response) but when I run /sbin/lilo I get the
following error (this is something I caused a while back but
I forgot how):
