Subject: using hardware sensors on MB 741LMRT
Date: Wed, 6 Sep 2000 00:21:24 +0200

I'm experiencing some problems getting my hardware sensors to work (using
lm-sensors). I have a PCChips motherboard, model MB-741LMRT. This uses a
SiS 5595 b2/b3 chip.=20
This is the result of 'sensors':
sis5595-isa-0290
Adapter: ISA adapter
Algorithm: ISA algorithm
VCore 1: +2.04 V (min =3D +2.84 V, max =3D +3.45 V) ALARM
VCore 2: +1.98 V (min =3D +2.68 V, max =3D +3.26 V) ALARM
+3.3V: +1.23 V (min =3D +2.97 V, max =3D +3.63 V) ALARM
+5V: +0.91 V (min =3D +3.78 V, max =3D +4.62 V) ALARM
fan1: 0 RPM (min =3D 3000 RPM, div =3D 2) ALARM
fan2: 0 RPM (min =3D 3000 RPM, div =3D 2) ALARM
temp: +127 C (limit =3D +60 C, hysteresis =3D +50 C) ALARM
alarms: Board temperature input (usually LM75 chips) ALARM

Of course, the cpu is not really 127 =B0, this is however the value that is
always showing up. Through the BIOS, correct temperatures can be seen at
bootup.

Anyone experience with this kind of MB/chip?

Thanks,

Frederik

Hi,
    I've been having trouble with my Voodoo3 3000 card displaying 2D. I
have the default for X set to 32 bpp but the colors are definitely not
32 bpp, they're more like 8 bpp. I've tried startx --bpp 32 and all
that junk but no matter what I put it always gives me 8 bpp. Everything
seems to be ok in my XF86Config although I'm not very experienced at
interpreting it.
thanx,

What OS are you running it on, 98 or NT? If it's NT you might have to be

Hi there,

what version PM do you use? I know that PM V5.0 support linux partitions and
allow to resize them but I did not try it. Just check that you have PM V5.0 and
update it from POwerQuest web site as I guess that original version will not
support big disks. Remember that it works only from Windows and there is no DOS
version. If something wrong with Windows you will not able manage partitions
without reinstall Windows. PM V4.X allow move Linux partitions but not resize.
But, "Do you really need PM if you can create partions with linux fdisk?".
PM convinient only when you need move/resize partions. All another patitions'
operation you can do with fdisk and format/mkfs.

This is my /etc/apcupsd.conf file with the comments removed:

My BackupUPS 500 is using out of the box stuff on COM1.
It uses the APCUPSD in /etc/rc.d/init.d.
You have to use apcaccess as root to check status and stuff.

Hope this helps.

My microsoft PS/2 compatible Intellimouse jumps about everywhere on the

I installed it, ran XF86Config and told it to use the PS/2 protocol. Same
problem when I tried to use the Intellimouse protocol.
As the device I gave up /dev/mouse which is a symlink to /dev/psaux

It didn't happen in the previous version of X (3.somewhat). I am using

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

Voodoo3 is a16-bit video board, not 32-bit.

Set the default for 16 bbp.

SB 128 PCI, provided you want output only.

The live! is probably better for input also. Duplex?
What do I know? I've been happy for years with a SB 16 isa.
