Did you do anything 'special' to get it to work? Other than install
linux, I mean. Also, what type of hardware are you using it on (CPU,
etc ) Kernel version?

Thanks.

I have a BusLogic BT-958 SCSI adaptor with firmware 5.07B. I have
a Mustek MFS-12000SP scanner attached to the adaptor. I have always
had trouble with the scanner attached to this SCSI adaptor. I have
tried various versions of Linux on various hardware always with the same
results. I can scan in black and white fine. But I can't scan in color.
I've tried this scanner on other non-Linux machines and it works fine.

Anyway, does anyone here use this scanner on their box? If so, which
SCSI adaptor are you using? If not, which scanners are you guys using?
Do the USB scanners work all right on Linux boxes?

In your situation, a tape drive makes no sense whatsoever. Buy yourself an Orb
drive or similar. They are quite inexpensive ($120 or so) and the media cost is
not an issue for a small HD you have. A removable drive is way faster than a
tape and you have a real filesystem meaning you have easier access to your
files.

If anyone needs it, send me a request and I will e-mail. Both files are

Hello,

I've been running LinuxPPC (a Red Hat port) on Power PC hardware for
several years. My employer is purchasing a Intel-based system for me and I
was wondering if it was fully compatable with Red Hat 7. It is an HP Vectra

native Crystal Wave sound.

Thanks,

I have just installed Linux Mandrake 7.1 and it did not correctly
detect/install my Acer ALN-101 ISA PnP Ethernet card. I have had little
success trying to find drivers for this card; Acer's site doesn't even list
it, but everywhere I am seeing the ALN-201 PCI Ethernet which I assume is a
similar card with a PCI interface. If anyone can tell me where I can get a
driver that will work with my card, I would be most appreciative. Cheers,

Subject: RedHat 6.2????
Date: Thu, 08 Feb 2001 08:28:48 GMT

I have tried to install RH 6.2 on my PC. It does the fips part
ok...runs in text mode ok...looks as if it finds the hardware...but, if
it is run in GUI mode it gets to a point (after the text messages about
the hardware it found) where the screen changes from the black 'dos'
looking background to a shorter flickery grey screen. The screen is
blank! It stays there forever (well 20mins!).
I would do it in text mode but when it comes to doing the 3 partitions
it wouldn't accept what i was putting in.

16mb /boot
64mb /linux swap
expand /

The expand part i cannot seem to check!
and the /boot doesn't allow me to add it. (too large?)

I have a lousy monitor that only goes upto a about 1024x768.
Does linux have a default value for the resolution when using the GUI
install mode.

Does anyone know what the problem might be?

The PC worked and then I entered ./ltinst.
That's all I did, but i can't use the modem or integrate it with yast2 etc.

What have I done wrong ?

the collection of old stuff I'm seeing problems with is:

machine 1:

gigabyte 430TX motherboard (PIIX4) with 4GB quantum bigfoot as hda, nakamichi
5 disc changer as hdc, toshiba 24speed as hdd
cyrix MII 3.5x66 running at rated speed, 2x32MB edo simms + 1 x 64MB pc66
dimm, 3c590 nic

machine 2:

pcchips 577 motherboard - some kind or relatively recent VIA
super-socket-seven udma 33 chipset relabled by pcchips
4GB quantum bigfoot on hda, two no name cdroms on hdc and hdd
cyrix MII 3x75 running at 2.5x100, 1x64MB pc100 dimm, SMC isa nic

machine 3:

gigabyte socket five motherboard with PIIX 1 or 2. 2,5GB quantum bigfoot on
hda, wearnes cdwriter on hdc, noname 24x cdrom on hdd.
pentium 100 running at 2x60, 2x16MB FPM simms, SMC isa nic

The problem on 1 and 2 always seems to occur when the cdrom is in use and
heavy access occurs on the disk.

Machine 3 seems to have problems communicating with the cdwriter during
coaster production.

Or is just these mild overclocks ? Kernels build faultlessly.

it will help youif it is not bugs here or you've install

I had the same problem when I run startx and wrong videocard
