You likely need to load the 'sr_mod' module to access it as a cdrom (see
dmesg or /var/log/messages). Note that /dev/sr0 is hard linked to
/dev/scd0 so either device could be mounted as a cdrom. However ripping
music or cd burning needs the 'sg' module and device (/dev/sg0).

Audio/Modem Riser - a special slot to insert cheap software modems. These
cards use the system CPU for many functions that are done in hardware in
real modems. Much like the dreaded winmodems that use the PCI bus.

Don't know, but try Intel.

Not as far as I know.

>Do we have any linux library to program AMR devices ?

Not that I know of.

I have tried the drivers for Symbios and NCR, but the result is the message
"Failed to insert ncr53c8xx module".

My PL4500 is an EISA machine. Is there any trouble with EISA machines?

Do the LEDs of your ISDN-TA respond, when the computer starts
up and tests the different interfaces? This is the first, I would look for.
Is the interface numbered or labelled at your computers back?
How many serial interfaces are recognized during bootup procedure?

Start up as root with "minicom -s" and go into the setup, try the different
settings /dev/ttyS0 until /dev/ttySn (all of the interfaces you have). An
ISDN TA should be able to do 115200 bps. Do you have a UART chip in your
computer supporting the higher speeds?

To be able to access the user profiles, first the communication between
computer and TA should work. You type in AT and the TA says - as a modem
would do, too - "OK". With an expanded specific AT command it will tell you
its current profile settings. A cryptic list of register settings will show
up 3 fold: a) active profile, b) stored setting no. 1 and c) stored setting
no. 2.

Kerstin
