BTW it is a HCF version controllerless... Anyone working on a driver
somewhere? I would like to beta test it :-)

Trying to burn a cdrw in Toaster produces this error:
GnomeToaster Recording Terminal
Recording 0 bytes to CD
No recordable Tracks found.

It doesn't appear to be writing an image to the disk. When I click on the 2nd
icon in the lower right hand corner of the software, display is:
TRACKNAME TRACKSIZE
GnomeToaster - Filesystem (ISO) 0(00:00:00)

If I try to a command line option, I get a write but I cannot mount the drive to
read it as it says:
[root@localhost mpierce]# mount -t iso9660 /dev/scd0 /mnt/cdrw
mount: block device /dev/scd0 is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/scd0,
or too many mounted file systems

Going back into cdrecord shows:
TRACKNAME TRACKSIZE
Datatrack of CD 0x2000401 710.304 (00:00:04)

The status bar gives no fillsize indication. If I try to record from cdrecord, I
get this error:

Can anyone help?

Mark,

I may have posted a message.. I have been in the process of moving
things from my OS/2 system (motherboard died) over to linux, and have
been trying to configure Pan.

According to them, there isn't. I was on the phone with them yesterday, and
basically the guy told me there was no money in developing for Linux. There
aren't enough of us to matter. When I mentioned that many of us were
multiplatform users, and that the numbers were significantly higher that he
thought, he said that he would pass it on. Now, if you believe THAT, I have
a nice bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.

Maybe we should call for a boycott of their products. Maybe all of us send
an email a day to them demanding Linux support. Better yet, we should just
toss their crap in a box, and send it to their corporate HQ in care of the
CEO...:)

I like you am extremely frustrated and pissed off. I have a perfectly good
cam, but can't use it because they won't get off their ass and write a
driver for it. It's a shame because I used to use their products
exclusively. Not anymore.

That you can't compile it doesn't mean that IT doesn't compile.

You mean "written for". Kernels of different major numbers are
entirely different animals. One has to do ports to move a driver from
one to another.

> Perhaps it will compile with that set of kernel headers, but it will
> not with the 2.2.17 kernel supplied with Mandrake 7.2.

Certainly not, since it's written for a 2.0.36 kernel!

Use the right kernel + source for the driver, or get the right driver
for the kernel source. What more can one say?

>> > He needs to snag the Redhat 7.0 version and recompile.

It's written for it.

But that is not the problem (although true). If the driver you got is
for 2.0.36, then you compile and use it against a 2.0.36 kernel. There
are plenty of RH distros that use such. If the kernel you use is 2.2
or 2.4, then you need a driver written for that kernel, and you need
to compile it against that kernels source.
