ZDNet are the "trade rags" and they're supposed to be slightly better then the average Joe Sixpence reporter who writes for the Westlake Times on garage sales & The Internet(TM). But too often then not, ZDnet stories are either content free (that is they are quoting, with mistakes, either press releases or marketing publications of interested parties) or down right show complete lack of understanding of the issues at hand. In the age of the Internet I don't need ZDnet for getting information. I have all the information I'll ever need and probably much much more - I can get the marketing dept. stuff from the companies themselves just like the reporter. What I expect from a serious reporter is to give the information the /context/ that I may lack because I don't have time/resources to catch up on everything. From a reporter worthy of the name I would expect a serious inquiry as to why such a utility is needed? why isn't this functionality part of the OS in the first place? how are other OS doing the same thing? what security implication this utility may have? and a zillion other things. But, of course, the story tells us nothing apart from: "hey, look what new toy I dug out to fill this column in 20 minutes of surfing the net". This is NOT serious journalism. I get better researched SPAM messages... So, what I guess I'm trying to say is: I am NOT negative to the media. I am, and will continue to be, negative to BAD media coverage. > > http://www.zdnet.co.il/html/article_view.asp?EditId=419 And this is what I got when I tried to follow your link: ---- Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005' [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Timeout expired /html/article_view.asp, line 30 --- No, it's not really related, but I find it funny never the less... ;-) Just my 2c, Gilad. ================================================================= To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word "unsubscribe" in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
