I suspect that my request for on-line tutorial information triggered this "plug". (By the way, I passed on the list responses to my "newbie" friend, who sends his thanks; I suggested that he join the list in a few months after shedding his Linux/C++ virginity.) I visited the Interbit site, and found very little of local use. The Linux programming course seemed to be an overseas effort, and its content was just a copy of the table of contents of W.R. Steven's "Advanced Programming in a Unix Environment". It's cheaper to read the book and do what he says, than to take a course. I wouldn't classify the Interbit "plug" as spam, but it wasn't very helpful, either. We do need a separate "place" for this kind of stuff.
