Not necessarily. I was happy to backup using Linux, and to restore using
Linux. Then to reboot Windows to play another FreeCell game (without
Shlomi's solver).
(BTW: to backup and restore MS-Windows 2000 installation, I used dd |
gzip -9 (and the corresponding reversed pipe), to preserve locations of
files in the partition. And it has a nice pinball game.)
