I'm still annoyed by the way people consider the fact that the first list
we had was in English, and how people that (according to them) cherish
tradition can't understand why this list is traditionally is in English,
and thus the new one is "the Hebrew list" (and not "THE list").

But still, I made a constructive suggestion for a name in the Hebrew list
(see, I'm not just bitching, I actually subscribed to that Hebrew list to
make a difference. I also intend to answer questions there). I said
that the domain name "iglu.org.il" (or linux.org.il) already refered to
linux, so it was not necessary to have that in the user name too: so I
suggested a name like "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" (making diun@iglu the group's
"official" name).

Another name I'm thinking of just now is "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" - why do
we need that extra "-il", when we have a ".il" at the end already?

Actually the "real" list is indeed NOT in Hebrew, and will remain like
that in the forseeable future. The Hebrew spinoff is indeed not the "real"
list - most of the great people we have on this list will unfortunately
not subscribe to the Hebrew one, at least not initially, because of
configuration hassles, disinterest or other reasons. Some people will
never move to the Hebrew spinoff because they don't know Hebrew at all.

By the way, you should be aware of the fact that Hebrew is not the only
official language in Israel: Arabic is too. So even though that Hebrew
is indeed the most common languague, it cannot be considered the only
"real" Israeli language.

As a corollary, it might also be useful to open an Arabic version of the
list; There might be Arab-Israelis who know Hebrew but find it easier
to talk in Arabic - just like most Hebrew-speakers know English but are
more comfortable with Hebrew. Unfortunately I personally will not be able
to join the Arabic list, because I don't speak Arabic, which is actually
a shame :(
