I think the problem may be the linux zip driver.

I wanted to backup onto zip but found that whenever I wrote large files
to zip disk (large approximated to >1MB) then they failed a diff with
the original. I haven't had time to mess around so I haven't isolated
the problem or sent a bug report.

I haven't got time to investigate, but I can attempt to duplicate
anybody else's test results. I've got a Zip Plus 100 on my parallel
port.
