They got it from BSD, who in turn settled copyright claims with M$,
who in exchange agreed to keep the Regents' of the University of
California copyright statement in the Windows TCP/IP code...

Just kidding, of course...

Why should Sun remove the copyright? Assuming they were not in
violation of any license (if they were, they would write their 
own two-liner), they wouldn't care one way or the other...
