Thanks for the help, I found the problem. In case you're curious, the
problem was that I copied the fonts from an window$ NTFS partition, and
as a result they weren't readable by anyone except root. Now I have
another problem there: Some of the entries in the menus are written in
reverse. Anyway, I decided to leave it. I don't use it anyway, just
wanted to see how good is the advertised hebrew support.
