I am trying this out right now, using a little program called dvgrab. I
believe that stock RH kernels have all the modules needed.

Problem: dvgrab complains that there is no /dev/raw1394 How do I get that
beast in /dev? I forced the raw1394 module to load, but that is not enough.
Any list members have a clue?

Look up the ieee1394 project on sourceforge. There are two chipsets that are
supported, and I am sure some actual models are listed in the hardware
compatibility list. I am using a built in OHCI chipset (or so /sbin/lspci
wants me to believe).

Let me know about your progress.
