Eli just mentioned a note that I sent to him, but forgot to CC to the
entire list. Here's what I wrote:
I have seen, *very* recently, behavior similar to what you're talking
about with one of my clients who uses Barak. The Linux box (directly
connected to ADSL) was doing just fine, but the Windows machines using
NAT (aka IP masquerade) were suddenly unable to use POP or HTTP.
Actually, HTTP worked just fine when the requests and responses were
small. So google.com worked, but cnn.com didn't.
I was too busy with emergencies to solve the problem, so someone else
took a look at it and discovered what seems to have been the problem
-- the MTU for the Windows boxes needed to be made smaller. This was
done by adjusting the registry settings. Things now seem to be
working OK overall, except that POP service is pretty slow. We got
around the HTTP problem temporarily by installing Squid.
This is a pretty standard sort of issue for ADSL in Israel, except
that everything had been working beautifully until a few weeks ago.
I'm still convinced that Barak and/or Bezeq changed something without
notifying us, but Barak denies it.
I hope that this helps you somehow!
