I am going to provide commercial users a better alternative for BitKeeper
that is Free (Aegis may be just that by now). That or convince Larry to
free it in the process, which IMO is for his own damn good.

Good for you Nadav. Unfortunately, I was tempted by it, and was suddenly
informed of a license change that I could not comply with. It's like
buying Windows 98 at 98 and at 2000 be informed by Microsoft that they
changed their licensing terms and I must comply if I wish to use the
product. Some kind of UCITA brain-damage.

Yes, it does. I plan to keep with the "Better SCM" in order to educate
everybody about the better alternatives to CVS and ClearCase around
(including BitKeeper). The only reason I started using BitKeeper was
because I was looking for a better alternative to CVS which had a
compelling hosting service. I could only find bkbits.net.
I was perfectly happy with the BK service until the license change came
out of the blue, which made me unable to comply with it practically and
ideologically. Luckily, I did not use BitKeeper for anything too serious
and had a clone of the repositories.
I would not have used BitKeeper if I were Linus and his gang until it
became free software. This is the only thing that could kill McVoy's
attitude and obsession with people abusing his software when it is clearly
obvious that they would have abused it or not use it all, no matter what.
As a side note I might add that I wrote an essay titled "BitKeeper - a War
Story" on paper, and my parents will frown if I publish it. But I have
more productive things to do now, including hacking on Aegis or Arch or
OpenCM or Subversion.
