Hi all

We're shopping for a decent Linux/x86 & Solaris/SPARC IDE, one that's both
fit for large-scale projects and able to handle gcc and Sun's C compiler,
as well as support multiple compilers on a specific system(either
different-versioned or cross-). Our code is mainly C++.

We're currently looking at Visual Slickedit.
Can anyone give any recommendation - good or bad on it?

I don't know Visual Slickedit, but take a look at CRiSP. Download a demo from http://www.crisp.demon.co.uk/download.html#v8.0 - fully functional 20 day license.
Their technical support is by the author, Paul Fox, [EMAIL PROTECTED] who is very
responsive to *** real *** problems.

I have the Linux/Windows versions - and they are very mutually compatible (very important for X platform e.g. Java).

DAF

Also, any
impressions on its Makefile-autogeneration mechanism would be welcome.

Thanks! :-)
