Quoting Gilad Ben-Yossef, from the post of Wed, 18 Dec: > > but I remember something about saying that if israel would invite him he > > would never come here cause we act like SA > > Now, it can only be accepted that some difference of views will exists, > but this goes beyond this. definitely. if there is something RMS teaches you is that opinions need to be questioned. He is very eloquent in explaining to you where you are wrong when you question his, and he questions the opinions of others without any fear, nor should he, since (as much as M$ brass hates to admit) he is not preaching anything illegal. Note that the ice is quite thin. RMS is very clear in his opinion that music should be shareable, and the FSF's Savannah server (nongnu.org) hosts projects like MLdonkey. however you will not read any calls to illegal actions like unauthorized redistribution of music and movies coming officially from the FSF or its members. treating anyone's opinions as holy or undisputable is a bad idea. infact you will find both in the GNU project and the Debian project people more leniant and more extreme than RMS in their opinions, and that's fine with him I guess. as for the rumors that he is hard to get along with, I can't agree or not, since I have no personal account from anyone. he's opinionated and stuborn (well, such are many geeks) and he feels he has to make a moral point and make it a little extreme to be heard. same as many other free thinkers that stir to get attention to the ideas they try to raise (Yeshaayahu Leibowitz, anyone?). That doesn't make them a difficult person on the personal level automaticly. as for the comparison of IL=SA, he's not the first to do the comparison, and Israel looks a lot like Apartheid from the outside lately. I hope that during this visit he gets to see the situation up close and better construct his opinions either way (although sadly I tend to agree :) -- The Notorious I.R.A.
