Hello folks!Summary:
Does any one know of a local supplier of SCSI accessories i.e.
* Cables
* Adapter cards (including dual segment)
* 50/68 pin converters (m/f, all combinations including with/without top byte termination)
* Terminators (passive & active)
It would help if the said suppler had some technical background i.e. knows a little more than how to operate his cash register.
There is a Linux angle: My current setup for n ADR 50 and Yamaha CDRW (both SCSI) sort of work under WIn, but the tape does *not* work correctly under Linux. I'm almost certain that there is a termination problem, or worse.
Thanks,

I got hold of an Adaptec 2940UW which has 2x68 pin internal ports, 1x50 pin internal port and a 68 pin external port. It came from BAR in Ramat Gan. Dealer (that's me) price is $115+VAT. You also need a cable, which they made up on the spot.
Performance on a full system backup:
Under Win 2K the ADR clunks along at speeds between 105-130 Mb/min using the old Echo software. (I can't get the supplied Tapeware to work).
Under Linux, it flies at about 170Mb/min using the supplied Linux Tapeware.
Verify works fine, and the error report includes dead symlinks which is quite useful. I have not as yet checked it using good ol' commandline BRU, which based on past experience should be even faster than any GUI thing.
Oh, and one more thing: You can actally restore! That's not as silly as it sounds - My previous IDE ADR30 backed up OK, but under Linux, you couldn't read anything back from it!
