Well actually it's not download-install-shell, but there are over 
144 "distributions" for almost any imaginary combinations. From 1 floppy all 
the way to S/390. The Linux distribution which is on the Sharp Zaurus for 
example could really fit his needs (although it's for Arm processor, I'm sure 
it can be easily converted to X86 clone processors).
