Hi, I keep seeing people talk about pinging the other side of their ADSL line in order to discover whether it's still up and re-run pppd if ping fails.
Have anyone of them tried pppd's "persist" option and decided that it's not good enough? I just put it on (with "maxfail 0" so it will retry forever) and it seems to work, but I'd like to learn from other people's experience if there is any hidden snag waiting for me down the road.
